Local Cycling Group Tackle Mizen to Malin for Prostate Cancer
Members of the Rostrevor based Amateur sports team, The Rossi, are undertaking all Island cycling challenge to cover 600km in 3 days to raise funds for research into Prostate Cancer.
Starting at the most southerly point of Mizen, Co Cork on 30th June, the ten-strong team plan on cycling to the most Northernly point of Malin, Co Donegal within 3 days.
For brothers Martin & John McGinn it’s a bit of a family affair. The biking siblings are joining eight Rossi team mates to complete the challenge with Martin’s wife Julie, and the brothers’ parents – Martin Snr and Mona McGinn – at the helm of the support vehicles that will follow the team as they undertake this mammoth task.
Martin says: “Like a lot of families, we, and a number of the members of the club, have had a family member who’s been affected by Prostrate Cancer. Chatting about it recently, we decided we’d do something as a group to raise funds to support the QUB research to improve the lives of men affected by Prostate Cancer. Covering 600km in 3 days is quite a challenge, but it one we’re looking forward to and we hope by doing it we can raise some money to support this important ongoing research.
“If you are able to support the fundraising efforts through a donation, we’d really appreciate it. There’s a just giving page set up which you can find on our social channels – The Rossi – or search for us on the Just Giving website,” Martin adds.
