NMD Labour Market Partnership to host events profiling career opportunities in Engineering and Hospitality & Tourism.
Newry Mourne Down Labour Market Partnership is to host series of special events in the district this March, focusing on Engineering and Hospitality & Tourism sectors.
The first event is for those interested in exploring a career in Engineering Sector and will take place on 14th March in the Kilmorey Arms Hotel, Kilkeel.
On March 21st a second event will be hosted by the Whistledown Hotel, Warrenpoint, and will focus on those interested in exploring a career in Hospitality and Tourism.
Both sessions will feature conversations with successful local businesses in each sector and will explore case studies of their growth and key successes, the skills and qualifications needed to succeed in the industry, and will also share up to date information on job, graduate and apprenticeship opportunities.
Both events are free to attend and are open to school leavers; job seekers; restarters and returners; local businesses; and those considering starting a new business.
Newry Mourne and Down Council Chairperson Cllr Valerie Harte said: “We believe it’s critical for local job seekers to engage directly with businesses who are successful in this sector, to learn, aspire and gain awareness of the range of career opportunities available locally, in addition to understanding the various pathways to access jobs.
“It is our hope, that these kind of events – coupled with Newry Mourne and Down Labour Market Partnership’s suite of ongoing programs – offers residents the best opportunity to access work and upskill for work, whilst promoting NMD as a great place to live and work”, Cllr Harte concluded.
Funded by the Department for Communities, Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
NMD Labour Market Partnership ‘Engineer Your Next Career Step’ event take place on 14th March, Kilmorey Arms Hotel, Kilkeel, 10am -12.30pm. Light lunch will be provided.
NMD Labour Market Partnership ‘Jumpstart a Career in Hospitality & Tourism’ event takes place on 21s’t March in the Whistledown Hotel, Warrenpoint, 10am – 12.30pm.
Registration for both is essential. Light lunch will be provided.
