PRESS RELEASE Friday, 05 February 2010 To celebrate International Coaching Week (7th -14th Feb) CONCERN Worldwide has created an alliance with Rapid Change Consultancy to develop leadership skills among the management team in Belfast. International Coaching Week 2010 is an initiative from the International Coaching Federation which encourages members to take part in activities which highlight the value of coaching services. Anne Dargan, Director of Rapid Change has volunteering her business expertise to develop two team leaders within Concern who manage a total of 8 staff based in Belfast and London. Anne, who has been coaching businesses since 2004, says ‘empowering people' is the key to improving organisations capability and profitability. "Leadership coaching is employed by organisations to improve bottom line results and it is something that is highly relevant to voluntary organisations and charities - but it's something that they rarely have a budget for. As part of International Coaching week I wanted to do some work with these types of organisations and I'm delighted to be able to support the staff of Concern Worldwide and they work they do. "Through coaching, I'll be developing leadership and improving productivity which in turn will deliver business results for the whole organisation." Karen Gallagher, head of Concern Worldwide, Belfast says: "For over 40 years our focus has been on improving the lives of the poorest people, and our team of staff are crucial in delivering that support. "It's important for us to focus on empowering our managers and leaders identifying their strengths, talents and opportunities which will benefit all the team members and the organisation as a whole. We see huge challenges in Africa, Asia and of course the current Haiti campaign, which require the full capabilities of all our organisation. I am delighted to have Anne working with us in the coming weeks and I look forward to seeing positive results."
