PRESS RELEASE Monday, June 08, 2009 Mathsbuddy, the primary maths experts, have launched their summer programme of fun learning events commencing in July. The business, the brainchild of mathematics expert and former teacher Colette Delargy, is aimed at helping primary school children tackle problems with maths in a fun interactive way so they learn without realizing it. Colette explains: "Many parents want to use the summer break to tackle problems which arise during the school year but are reluctant to use formal tutoring as they want to allow the kids to relax over the summer. Other issues may be worry over new transfer tests for those entering p 7 in September. "Mathsbuddy employs creative, fun and interactive way to learn so it's not based on a formal approach. We play games to introduce a fun competitive element and use specially sourced puzzles which look like things you might find in toystores so the children enjoy what they are doing, and they are learning at the same time." Colette says fear of maths skills like adding, subtracting, multiplying/dividing and fractions can inhibit learning so all of the mathsbuddy activities are designed to create confidence and remove the ‘fear factor'. "Often parents might dislike maths themselves because of their learning experience when they were younger and they can pass this fear or dislike onto their children. I can help to stop that cycle of fear and make learning mathematics a much more pleasant and successful experience." To sign up to the summer programme which is 10 hours spread across one week, contact Colette on tel 028 3026 9919 or email info@mathsbuddy.co.uk. Mathsbuddy also have an online store where you can buy recommended ‘tried and tested' games and puzzles to use at home with your child to help tackle specific maths problems.
